Why writers should build up a reputation, before publishing their work.

I am not an Author, I am a writer, I have yet to publish a book, but i like writing more than publishing books, so mine is on hold for now.
Recently I virtually met a brand new Author Joan Hugues, whom I felt an instant connection with. Joan had written her first novel, and published it herself. This process has taken her over 5 years. She has finally made it, she is a published author, and a very good one at that. I thoroughly loved her book, I have recommended it to family and friends, and this is my first ever recommendation of a book.
Joan has a beautiful soul, which shines through in every single page.
I rarely get so engrossed in a book as I did with this one. I read the whole book in 3 hours and was furious when it ended. I wanted to keep on reading more. My only hope is that she will publish book 2 very soon.
This lady is an inspiration to aspiring authors, the publishers let this one slip through their fingers, because her book is amazing. The only problem Joan is having is selling her book. She is singlehandedly now promoting her book, and although sales are ok, she is lost in the amount of fantastic authors that are already out there, and there are so many of them it’s hard to be heard above the noise.
As an aspiring author myself, it has been interesting to watch Joan grow, and the obstacles she is overcoming. I picture myself with my book in my hand too one day, but because I am already growing my reputation with my writing and my blogs, hopefully it won’t be as difficult to sell my book afterwards, because let’s face it, if you have put your heart and soul into a book, you would want everybody to read it, wouldn’t you ?
Keep going Joan, and all of you Authors, you writers, and readers.
Well done for keeping the tradition of reading going in a digital era.
The world would be in a sorrier state without books.
Keep reading and writing, the math will sort itself out, love Betty x
